Frequently Asked Questions
How should I prepare for my first visit?
It is best to come to acupuncture with a little something in your belly, but avoid heavy meals and alcohol. Unfortunately, if you have been drinking alcohol close to your appointment time, we are unable to conduct your session.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Not usually. Patients are often surprised when they learn the needle has been put into place. Occasionally you will feel a small pinch when a needle is inserted, but most of the time the sensation is minimal. We pride ourselves on using gentle needling techniques that prioritize your comfort, while still gaining all of the benefits. Acupuncture is performed using sterile, one-time use needles. These needles are much thinner than needles used to give shots or draw blood and are not hollow like those needles.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you will need depends on your health concerns and the length of time you have been suffering. For most pain complaints, you should notice a significant decrease after a few sessions. For fertility, hormonal regulation, and other reproductive disorders, you will need regular, weekly treatment for at least three months to gain enough momentum to see a shift in your condition.
How much does the initial acupuncture visit cost?
Your initial visit is $145 for a 90-minute session. This visit takes more time so we can go over your health history and conduct a health evaluation prior to your acupuncture treatment.
How much do follow-up visits cost?
Follow-up visits are are $95 and last 60 minutes.
We also offer Body Feedback assessments to existing patients for an additional $45. Body Feedback is a tool we use to evaluate supplements, herbs and essential oils in response to your body, so we can better accommodate you during sessions and provide optimum health benefits. In this 30-minute consult, you will bring in a sampling of what you take for evaluation. This is a great way to ensure that what you are taking is improving—not hindering—your health.
Do you take insurance?
Our studio does not bill insurance directly. However, you can inquire with your insurance company to see if they will pay for acupuncture. If it is covered, we are happy to provide you with a coded and itemized receipt to submit to your insurance company.
Is it okay to exercise before or after acupuncture?
If you have an appointment on a day you usually exercise, it is fine to do so before or after, however, most patients leave acupuncture feeling very relaxed. You may want to enjoy the relaxation and hit the gym beforehand.
